This park is literally one of the most popular majesties in Costa Rica. It has been visited by several thousands of people who were amazed by the splendor of its vegetation and its diverse fauna. Located in La Fortuna de San Carlos, a three-hour drive from Juan Santamaria International Airport, it is easily accessible. Occupying a protected area of 250 hectares, it is an air network of 15 bridges, 6 of which are hanging and 9 are fixed and are linked by smooth and well maintained trails. The whole forms a course of about 3.5 kilometers of hiking that will allow you to admire the rainforest at several tens of meters high. Each bridge has a different length and height from the others. One of the hanging bridges is called «Cascade Bridge» and is over 60 meters high. At this height you will have a beautiful view of La Fortuna waterfall; it will even be possible to see the Arenal volcano from afar if the view is clear.
The park offers day and night guided tours on the trails surrounded by nature and wildlife. Through the voices of guides that are passionate and proud of their country, you will learn more about the animals that populate the forest. So be prepared to see many tropical birds, lizards, monkeys, spiders, armadillos, sloths, reptiles and many more. As you will walk on the bridges with the guides, they will also mention the tree species composing this thick and verdant tropical flora that sits on the left as well as on the right.
Get ready for an exceptional adventure with family or friends at the Mistico Arenal Hanging Bridges Park. Have the guarantee that this is an activity that children will enjoy very much. It will take you several hours to walk on all the bridges and explore the park to the fullest. It is open daily from 7:30am to 4:30pm. We strongly advise you to not wear sandals or open shoes. Don’t forget to bring a raincoat, as it may rain, due to the fact that it’s a rainforest.
