La Fortuna Waterfall

This beautiful wonder is located in a biological reserve with an area of 210 acres of rainforest. More specifically, it is part of the Arenal Volcano National Park.

To get there, from the Arenal Volcano, you will have to travel a 5.5 kilometers distance, which includes a path of about 530 steps. After this distance, you will be in front of this jewel located in the heart of a dense and green vegetation. From this point , there is a spacious viewpoint where you will be comfortable to immortalize this show by taking beautiful pictures.

The waterfall is 70 meters high and is fed by the Tenorio River. Its falls pour into a basin with fresh blue-green water.

After you have seen and photographed this magnificent treasure, feel free to swim in the basin. The dry season is more suitable for swimming because the water is low, but the currents can be strong. However, the left side of the basin is better for swimming and is safe for children.

Before going to the La Fortuna Waterfall, it is recommended to have flip flops, or better yet, hiking shoes and water shoes (if you plan to swim), water bottles and a mosquito repellent. Try to go early in the morning because there are fewer people.

Admire this magnificent waterfall that stunned thousands of tourists who gave it the superb score of 4.5/5 via TripAdvisor. You can access it from 7:00am to 5:00pm, every day of the week. Visitors spend an average of 90 minutes at the waterfall; maybe you'll stay there longer.
